Certified Global Business Professional

The College of Charleston joins a few other institutions in offering training that can lead to the professional benchmark for competency in global commerce. Starting in the fall 2009, all CofC students can take an elective course that will prepare students the take the bi-annual exam. TRAN 360 Special Topic: Global Commerce and Enterprise, taught by Dr. David Desplaces, is the first such offering in the Charleston area. International Business majors are strongly encouraged to take this course.

The CGBP designation demonstrates an individual's ability to conduct global business in the areas of Global Business Management, Global Marketing, Supply Chain Management, and Trade Finance. For individuals experienced in international trade, the certification confirms that knowledge. For candidates just beginning, it establishes a professional development goal to ensure a full understanding of the profession. For companies, it assures that employees and business partners are able to practice global business at the professional level required in today's competitive environment. For more information about the CGBP and how to prepare for it visit the NASBITE Web Site.

Professionals or students interested in the CGBP certification as a professional development (not for academic credit) should visit the Global Trade Initiatives web site.
