The International Business Major

International business majors have an edge in competing for global business opportunities and acceptance to graduate schools. They have all the traditional knowledge, skills and abilities characteristic of business program graduates, augmented by competency in a second language and the ability to engage in cross cultural fluency including being able to manage customers and partners in both domestic and international settings.

The International Business major builds upon the strong Liberal Arts tradition found at the College of Charleston. In addition to general college requirements, students are required embark upon a rigorous study of the functional areas of business and supplement this with the study of specialized international business courses. To gain cross-cultural competencies, students are required to complete an internationally-oriented minor.

IB Majors should be able to operate in the 21st century global economy. Students must be able to engage in cross cultural fluency including being able to manage customers and partners in both domestic and international settings. Students upon graduation will demonstrate an ability to apply basic business decision-making strategies to international organizations.
