SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submissions are open to all students of the College of Charleston. Miscellany publishes any style or genre of poetry, prose and visual art. There is no limit to the number of submissions per person or the length per submission.
Each year a panel of judges chooses a poem, a piece of prose and a piece of artwork as Miscellany Award Winners. Those authors whose pieces are selected will recieve a trophy and have the titles of their works listed at the beginning of the issue. First place winners will recieve a cash prize of $50.
Poetry, Fiction, Non-Fiction and Theatrical Writing
- Single spaced and text on one side of the page.
- Typed in 12 point Times New Roman
- Multiple-page pieces must be numbered
- Include the title at the top of the page
- Not include the author's name
- Include a cover letter (see below)
- Be well proofread
Visual Art
We accept all kinds of art. If it’s too big to submit or you don’t want to part with it. Email us at miscellanycofc@gmail.com and arrange a time to have your artwork photographed to be judged. For all hard copy submissions, include a cover letter.
Cover Letter- In order to judge works fairly, we ask that the author's name appear on the cover letter rather than the work itself. Miscellany realizes that artists sign their work; don't worry, this is not a problem. You still have to include a cover letter, however. If you happen to be submitting more than one piece of work per envelope, each work needs to have its own cover letter.
Constructing a cover letter is simple. On a separate piece of paper from your actual submission - and in the same font - type the title of the work, your name, local address, telephone number (including the area code), your E-mail address and the type of work you're submitting (poetry, essay, pencil drawing, etc.)
Please include a SASE to receive a response. Manuscripts will not be returned. artwork will be available for pick-up at the end of the semester.

Calhoun Annex 172 Calhoun Street Room 202 on the second floor, or look for us at events around campus, we will be collecting submission at Visiting Writer Series events. You may also email your submissions to SubmitToMiscellany@gmail.com. If you decide to email your submission, remember that you only get one chance to do so. No revisions or edits will be accepted after the email has been received. The title and author must be in the subject field of the submission as well as your name, address and phone number in the body of the email.
