DR. BEVERLY DIAMOND became Associate Provost in August 2007. Prior to this, Diamond was Professor of Mathematics at the College of Charleston, which she joined in 1984. Upon receiving her B.A. in Mathematics and Psychology from the University of Prince Edward Island, she was awarded the Governor General’s Gold Medal for highest GPA in her graduating class. Diamond earned a M.S. in Mathematics and Psychology and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Manitoba. She served as a Program Officer in the Division of Mathematical Sciences at the National Science Foundation from 1996 to 1998, where she received the Director’s Award for Program Management Excellence. Diamond has held visiting positions at the University of Delaware and Montana State University. She has written over thirty journal articles in topology and topological dynamics. Diamond received the American Association of University Women Fellowship in 1988 and the College of Charleston’s Distinguished Research Award in 1992.

Diamond is an Associate Editor of the American Mathematical Monthly. She served as a Member-at-Large of the Council of the American Mathematical Society from 2003 to 2007 and chaired its Committee on Publications from 2006 to 2008. While at the College, Diamond has served on numerous committees addressing faculty governance and welfare, including the Advisory Committee on Tenure, Promotion and Third-year Review, Compensation, Budget, and the Advisory Search Committee for the Provost. In keeping with that history, she will address faculty issues in her position as Associate Provost.
