Where are we in the process?
The Finance and Admissions modules have gone live. People working in Finance, Business Affairs and Admissions are using several new software programs. PeopleAdmin, the new online application process, is also in full swing. The Human Resources department has reported much success in moving the job application process to a fully-online system. The Student, Human Resources/Payroll and Financial Aid teams are all in various stages of implementation right now.
What are important go-live dates for faculty and staff to know?FALL 2009
The Registrar's Office will build the fall 2010 course schedule in Banner, the new web-based system. Department chairpersons will be requested to send changes to the Registrar's Office based on their review of the fall 2009 SIS (Student Information System) course schedule. Reports will be provided.SPRING 2010
Faculty advisers will continue to use Cougar Trail, but advisees/students will register in Banner in fall 2010.
Chairs and their administrative assistants will have access to Banner for necessary overriding of students' classes.
Chairs and their administrative assistants will have access to Banner to build their spring 2011 course sections.
Financial Aid for fall 2010 will be packaged in Banner.SUMMER 2010
Student bills for fall 2010 will be generated in Banner.
Degree Works, the new degree audit, will be available for students to see the application of their fall 2010 classes.FALL 2010
Faculty will have access and be able to grade in Banner Self-Service.
Faculty advisers will use Degree Works.What can we expect in the next six months?
You'll hear about more modules going live, though you might not necessarily see much difference at this point. You may notice staff members out of the office for all or part of each day working on implementing the new system. You may experience delays and problems. We ask that you be patient as this very complex project continues to unfold. In the end, it will definitely be worth it.

Reports will be better, more interactive, more professional
As part of the BATTERY Project, many College of Charleston day-to-day business processes are getting better. One exciting improvement is the implementation of Cognos, a Business Intelligence report writing software.
