Charleston Explorers Marine Science Project

GRADUATE STUDENTS WANTED

Charleston Explorers Marine Science Project is a nonprofit organization committed to providing quality educational activities to South Carolina students and citizens which promote basic knowledge of and appreciation for the coastal ecosystems.

We are currently seeking part-time educators to teach our established South Carolina standards-based marine education programs to Elementary students, Girl and Boy Scouts. The programs will be conducted on board our 54 ft. vessel, in schools throughout Charleston County, and Patriots Point Maritime and Naval Museum. Educators are paid between $10 and $15 per hour for all funded programs.

A background in marine biology or environmental science is preferred. Informal teaching and boat experience is helpful.

You can visit our website at www.Charlestonexplorers.org for a full description of all the programs we offer.

The position is a wonderful opportunity to test your teaching skills. We are also in the process of developing research projects that we hope will evolve into long-term studies conducted by our participating students. Finally, for all of you getting ready for the real world, the organization is a wonderful vehicle to test your grant writing skills.
