Crew Club
Introduction
As a part of the College of Charleston crew team you can experience the
feeling of being in a boat with eight other like-minded individuals all
striving towards teamwork and a fast boat.
The College's crew club began in 1989 and currently has 50-60 rowers who compete in four and eight-man boats. We travel the southeast competing in regattas such as the Head of the Hooch and Head of the South against larger schools such as Clemson and the University of Tennessee. Our team has done well against this level of competition and has garnered many medals over the years. The team travels each October to Boston for the world's largest regatta, the Head of the Charles, and each May we head to Philadelphia for the Dad Vails regatta.
We row from the Bristol Marina, located just blocks from campus, on the Ashley River within sight of the many historical mansions along the Battery.
Members of the crew club find it is a great way to meet new people and to get involved on campus while taking advantage of the beautiful scenery that Charleston has to offer. Whether you are an experienced rower or have never picked up an oar, we would love to have you join. We have a great time on and off the water and you won’t want to miss out.
