Shotokan Karate Club

Shotokan is a traditional Japanese "hard" style of karate. The emphasis is on the development and control of power with relation to punching, kicking, and other body movements. Various objectives met in the class include: self-defense, competition (sparring and forms), strength and fitness, self-discipline, philosophy of martial arts, and others.

Classes are structured by the semester for beginners followed by the intermediate level.

Mark Andraes, a 3rd degree black belt in the Japan Karate Association, leads the classes.

The club meets on MWF from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in #245 of the Robert Scott Small building. For information on how to get involved in Shotokan Karate refer to our contact list.
