Campus Recreation Facilities
Fitness Center - 2nd Floor Stern Student Center
The Fitness Center is a 2000 sq. ft. facility featuring nine TRUE treadmills, nine TRUE elliptical trainers, a combination of nine upright and recumbent exercise bikes, a full circuit of Free Motion selectorized resistance training equipment, and a small complement of dumbbells and medicine balls.
East Shore Athletic Club (ESAC) - 80 Wentworth Street
All 11 ESAC locations are available to students and include 24-hour access. The campus location at 80 Wentworth Street includes both cardio equipment and a variety of selectorized strength training equipment and free weights.
To begin using the ESAC facilities, students will first register with ESAC at the Wentworth Street location. As part of the registration process a valid Cougar Card must be presented. Students will have to register each semester if they wish to continue using the ESAC locations.
Johnson and Silcox Centers - 30 George Street
One large activity center was formed by combining these two gymnasiums. The F. Mitchell Johnson Physical Education Center built in 1981 and the Willard Silcox Physical Education and Health Center renovated in 1995 occupy the corner of George and Meeting Streets.
Housed in these gymnasiums are four basketball courts, three volleyball courts, six badminton courts, a space for indoor soccer, an indoor running track, locker and shower areas, five racquetball courts (two of which are convertible to squash courts), and a 4900 sq. ft. multi-purpose room.
Indoor Running Track - Silcox Gym
When the weather is uncooperative, you can always count on this little gem awaiting you (14.5 laps per mile).
Swimming Pool - Stern Student Center
Our 25-meter swimming pool handles a busy schedule of classes, varsity swim team events, and recreational swim times. Contact the aquatics director at 953-5960 for scheduling information.
Dance Studio - J-201 Johnson Center
This 4900 sq. ft. dance studio is used extensively for HHP classes, CRS fitness classes, CRS sport club practices. Contact the CRS Director about room reservation requests.
Outdoor Fields - "The Yard" on James Island
A short drive from campus is our 12-acre outdoor recreation site located adjacent to the James Island County Park. "The Yard", as we call it, serves the CRS intramural sports leagues and the CRS sport clubs.

Participation in any Campus Recreation Services activity is completely voluntary. Individuals assume the risk for any harm or injuries caused as a result of their participation. Participants need to be aware of the possibilities of bodily injury and should understand that they are responsible for any and all costs that may stem from an injury or property damage incurred during participation.
