Every semester, the Charleston 40 holds open interviews to recruit members for the organization. To start the process, potential members are required to first submit an application and sign up for an interview time. Applications are available for download or may be picked up in the Admissions Info Center on the main floor of the Robert Scott Small Building.
Each applicant will be scheduled for a group interview with other applicants and current members of the Charleston 40 at the time their application is turned in.Members will interview the group as a whole to determine how they interact in a group setting. The applicants who advance will be called for an individual interview to be held in the following days. Members of the Charleston 40 will conduct the individual interview. Applicants will be asked to give a mock tour of an area on campus of their choice. The Recruitment Committee will deliberate and choose a slate for the general membership to approve or disapprove. The New Members will then undergo a semester of training where they shadow other guides and learn the many unique things the College of Charleston has to offer.
After their first semester, New Members will then have full membership responsibilities, benefits, and will become part of the General Membership.
