National Public Relations Leader to Speak

The College of Charleston Department of Communication continues its Communication Executive Speaker Series with the appearance of nationally known public relations leader Roger Bolton. The on-campus event will be held October 28 at 3:00 p.m. in Physicians Memorial Auditorium.

Roger Bolton is a senior counselor to APCO Worldwide, a leading global public affairs and corporate communications consultancy whose core services include corporate, investor and internal communication; crisis management; issue management; government relations; litigation communication; media relations; coalition building; opinion research; market entry; corporate responsibility and online communication.

“We are honored to be hosting Mr. Bolton,” said Brian McGee, chair of the Department of Communication, “and are certain his timely presentation on ‘Restoring Public Trust in Times of Uncertainty’ will complement classroom lectures and discussions in these difficult economic times.”

Bolton is also the immediate past president of the Arthur W. Page Society, a membership organization for chief communications officers of major corporations, dedicated to advancing the management policy role of the CCO. During his tenure as president, the Society released a major white paper entitled "The Authentic Enterprise" which examines the drivers and implications of a rapidly changing context for 21st century business. The report also includes results of a survey of chief executive officers on the evolving role of the chief communications officer in light of these dramatic changes.

Previously, Bolton served as senior vice president of communications at Aetna, a $25 billion provider of health care coverage and other employee benefits, with responsibility for public relations, public affairs, internal and executive communications, advertising and brand management.
