Recent Graduates of Master’s Program in Communication 

A number of our graduates have successfully transitioned to desired career paths.  Some are listed below:

Bryn Burkard (’08) – Bryn is a press officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety & Inspection Service (FSIS) in Washington, DC. She serves an agency spokesperson to media outlets, including Reuters, Dow Jones, Associated Press, and The Los Angeles Times.  She is responsible for writing news releases and supervising the agency’s social media efforts. 

Laura Crosswell (’08) – Laura began a doctoral research assistantship in Fall 2009 at the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University.  She taught eight sections of public speaking in our department in 2008-09 and presented research papers at academic conferences in Las Vegas and Norfolk before heading to Baton Rouge.

Jennifer Harris (’09) – Jennifer is teaching four sections of public speaking in our department in preparation for admission to a doctoral program.  She was an intern for the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry in Spring 2009.

Carrie Busch Moore (’08) – Carrie is now working in public relations and marketing for the prominent Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston.  As a graduate student, she did an independent study regarding the new Charleston Museum Mile.

Kevin Pratt (’09) – Kevin, named the department’s Outstanding Graduate Student in 2009, began coursework at Charleston School of Law in Fall 2009.  He is also teaching public speaking in our department.
