Congressional Candidate to Speak First congressional district candidate Linda Ketner (D) will speak at College of Charleston on October 22, 2008 as part of “The College of Charleston Series on Lowcountry Politics and Communication.” The event will take place in College of Charleston’s Physicians Memorial Auditorium. The program will begin at 3:00pm. A reception will be held in the foyer of the auditorium immediately following the program. As part of this non-partisan series, candidates from the first and sixth congressional districts have been invited to the College of Charleston campus. “This series is a forum for candidates to talk with our students and the greater Charleston community,” said Dr. Philip Jos, chairman of the Department of Political Science at the College of Charleston. “The College is looking forward to hosting this series and offering our students an opportunity to learn from these congressional candidates.” “The College of Charleston Series on Lowcountry Politics and Communication” is a joint effort of the College’s Department of Communication, Department of Political Science and the College of Charleston’s local chapter of Americans for Informed Democracy. Each event in the series offers students and faculty the opportunity to analyze the ideas of each candidate. Americans for Informed Democracy empowers and equips young people in the United States to address global issues—poverty, health, climate change, peace and security—through awareness-raising and actions that promote just and sustainable solutions on their campuses, in their communities, and nationally. Americans for Informed Democracy works with young people, particularly students, to promote an interconnected world through awareness, advocacy and action. |
