Expert Panel Addresses Money and Politics

An expert panel will address the relationships between “Money, Media, and the 2008 Election” on Monday, October 27, at 4:00 p.m. in Wachovia Auditorium on the College of Charleston campus.

The panel discussion, cosponsored by the Department of Communication and the Department of Political Science, includes faculty members Timothy LaPira, Michael Lee, Brian McGee, and Bill Moore.

The featured guest for the panel will be Massie Ritsch of the Center for Responsive Politics, which is responsible for the Web site www.opensecrets.org.

“We are pleased to bring these scholars together to address a topic of vital importance to the health of democratic societies,” said Dr. Philip Jos, chairman of the Department of Political Science at the College of Charleston.  “With the election only a few days away, we have a first-hand opportunity to observe how money and media influence the political process.”
