Three nationally known communication executives will lead a discussion at the College of Charleston about campaign tactics and communication strategies as they integrate personal experiences in politics during this student forum titled “Digital Lessons from the Campaign Trail”. John Palmer, who covered Presidents Bush, Clinton, Reagan and Carter as White House Correspondent for NBC News, will moderate the forum to be held March 19 at 4:30 p.m. in the Stern Student Center Ballroom. The event will be hosted by the College’s Department of Communication and the Department of Communication Advisory Council. The panel discussions will be integrated into question-and-answer sessions from the audience. The panelists (and council members) are listed below: Tucker Eskew is a founding partner of ViaNovo, an international management and communications consulting firm with offices in Austin, Texas; Dallas, Texas; Washington, D.C.; and Monterrey, Mexico. With twenty-five years' experience in state-level and presidential politics, as well as international communications, Eskew leads the firm's Washington office, overseeing the development and execution of strategic communications programs for corporate and public policy initiatives. He played leadership roles during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars; in the 2000 campaign and recount; for the Bush-Cheney re-election, and for the McCain-Palin campaign, where he served as counselor to the vice-presidential nominee. Phil Noble is one of the leading experts in the US and internationally on the Internet and politics. Noble is the founder of PoliticsOnline and its affiliated company Phil Noble & Associates, an international public affairs consulting firm. Noble is a veteran of over 300 political campaigns and public affairs projects in 40 states and 30 countries. He has worked to elect the head of state in 15 countries. Greg Schneiders is a founding partner in Prime Group and, before that, was CEO of SWR Worldwide, the research subsidiary of Weber Shandwick, the world's largest public relations agency. Greg began his career in research and strategic planning as Deputy Assistant to the President for Communications in the Carter White House. In that role, he directed the Presidential speechwriting office and advised the President on long-range communications strategy. ”The forum moderator and panelists will discuss the important role played by digital communications. Their personal experiences on local, national and international campaign trails are certain to captivate our technologically savvy and politically minded students,” said Brian McGee, chair of the Department of Communication. |
