David Moscowitz
joined the Department of Communication in 2008 after three years as Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Butler University in Indianapolis. He taught previously at Wabash College in Indiana and at Bradley University in Illinois. He also taught at Miami University in Ohio, where he earned his Master’s degree, and at Indiana University, where he earned his Ph.D. in communication and culture and was honored with its Outstanding Associate Instructor Award.

Dr. Moscowitz’s research explores postmodern identity and memory politics with particular attention on tropes of assimilation, whiteness, gender and the body, and Jewish identity and representation. His work is published in journals devoted to rhetoric, cultural studies, and Jewish studies, including Critical Studies in Media Communication, Studies in American Jewish Literature, and Text and Performance Quarterly. The International Communication Association has recognized his work with top paper honors. Dr. Moscowitz also serves on the editorial board for Critical Studies in Media Communication.

At the College of Charleston, Dr. Moscowitz works with the programs in Film Studies, Jewish Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies. He lives on James Island with Dr. Leigh Moscowitz and their children, Amelia and Elijah, and their sweet, blind beagle, Bailey.
