BON VOYAGE
Jean-Paul Rappeneau, Director
7:30 PM, Thursday, February 22, 2007, 114 min

Speaker: Dr. Frank Casa

From The Internet Movie Database
Director Jean-Paul Rappeneau is noted for long absences between films. Since 1990's "Cyrano de Bergerac", he has made only one other film, "The Horseman on the Roof" (1995). His latest, "Bon Voyage", reflects eight years of meticulous preparation. It is a beautifully crafted film with a star-studded cast, directed with a lightness of touch.

LES POUPEES RUSSES
Cédric Klapisch, Director
7:30 PM, Friday, February 23, 2007, 125 min

Speaker: Dr. John Bruns

From The Internet Movie Database
Xavier is now thirty. No longer a student, he is not yet a well-balanced, fullfiiled adult either. His career is unsatisfying: far from being the renowned novelist he aimed to be he must be content with little jobs such as reporter or ghost writer. His greatest "achievement" in "literature" is his collaboration to the script of a corny TV soap! His sentimental life is not much better, rhythmed by one night stands and unfinished romances. It looks as if when he seduces a woman beautiful outside and inside such as Kassia or Wendy he can't keep them. Will he ever bring his life into focus?

Five desperate men shoot themselves in order to be relieved from the horrifying frontline at the Somme, in WWI. A court-martial decides to punish them by leaving them alone in no-man's land, to be killed in the crossfire. Then all hell breaks loose and they all die. Or not? One of these men's fiancée, a young girl who can't walk since age 3, receives information that makes her suspect her boyfriend might have gotten away alive. So she embarks in a painful, long and often frustrating ordeal to find out the truth.

LE GRAND VOYAGE
Ismael Ferroukhi, Director
5:00 PM, Sunday, February 25, 2007, 108 min

From The Internet Movie Database
Reda, summoned to accompany his father on a pilgrimage to Mecca, complies reluctantly - as he preparing for his baccalaureat and, even more important, has a secret love relationship. The trip across Europe in a broken-down car is also the departure of his father: upon arrival in Mecca, both Reda and his father are not the characters they were at the start of the movie. Avoiding the hackneyed theme of the return to the homeland, the film uses the departure to renew a connection between two generation.

LE CHIGNON D'OLGA
Jerôme Bonnell, Director
7:30 PM, Sunday, February 25, 2007, 96 min

From the Guardian
The benign spirit of Eric Rohmer hovers over this charming and sweet-natured debut feature from 26-year-old Jérôme Bonnell. Julien (Hubert Benhamdine) and Emma (Florence Loiret) are brother and sister, affected in ways they still have not acknowledged by the recent death of their mother.
