Inherit the Wind

A dramatization of the "Scopes 'Monkey Trial,'" Inherit the Wind is the story of the controversial 1925 court case in Dayton, Tennessee that gained national attention when John T. Scopes was arrested for teaching Darwin's theory of evolution to his high school biology students. Two of the nation's most well-known attorneys, William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow, squared off in this tense courtroom battle that Bryan called a "contest between evolution and Christianity."

David Mann will lead an hour-long discussion of the creationism vs. evolution theory controversy before the film, at 6:00 p.m. in ECTR 118.
