About Laura Griffin
Laura Griffin, former Director of the Office of Substance Abuse Prevention at the College of Charleston, died January 22, 1996 as a result of a hit-and-run accident on the Battery.
Laura was an avid believer in the concept of healthy lifestyles-- a philosophy that she integrated into her work and personal life. The last seven years of her life were dedicated to the same principles of healthy lifestyles, prevention of substance abuse, and pedestrian safety.
The proceeds raised from the Laura Griffin Memorial 5K Run/Walk will fund student scholarships and a fellowship in her name and commemorate her life's work in substance abuse prevention.
