Overview on Accessibility at the Lowcountry Hall Students with disabilities are held to the same National and State science, math and technology education standards as their peers. However, many of the educational materials produced are not accessible to students with disabilities. Therefore, the NASA-funded Southeast Regional Clearinghouse (SERCH) developed an initiative to collaborate with educators and experts from exceptional classroom settings and organizations to identify what kinds of educational materials they need and what educational products will work best for their students. They found that there is a need to modify and/or adapt existing educational materials for involving the exceptional student population. SERCH has taken this task on, working closely with educators of students with disabilities, experts and NASA education product developers to implement more effective ways for ALL students to share in the excitement of NASA space science missions. The Lowcountry Hall has been initimitately involved with SERCH in this endeavor. The broker program at NASA, which included SERCH, has recently concluded; however the Lowcountry Hall is committed to providing the resources, obtained over the seven years of SERCH's Initiative, to the community.
