Well, now it has plenty of them - thanks to the foresight and generosity of four families. After Peggi Powell sat squirming uncomfortably through a performance in the Chapel Theatre, she made it her mission to bring new seats to this church-turned campus playhouse.
Three other families - Susan and Michael Master, Norton and Mindy Seltzer and Pam and Stanley Kaplan - joined her efforts and raised $15,000 to purchase and install more comfortable seating.
"In the last decade, the Chapel has become an important part of our academic and production programs," says Todd McNerney, chair of the theatre department. "So to have new, up-to-date seating greatly improves the visual aesthetic of the space, but more importantly, it means that audiences may now focus even more intently on the incredibly fine work of our students and our productions."
