Research emphasis: Oyster reef ecology, restoration, and conservation  

Current and planned research projects: 

  • modelling oyster reef development to functional maturity as tool for evaluating restoration success
  • development of volunteer-friendly sampling methods to evaluate faunal use of oyster reefs
  • improving water quality through outreach/education and fostering of stewardship
  • building capacity for oyster restoration in SC through community partnerships
