Ph.D., 2003, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, College of William & Mary
Research emphasis: Molecular immunology of fishes and invertebrates, host-pathogen interactions, environmental influences on immunity, molecular ecology
Current and planned research projects:
- comparison of gene expression profiles in shrimp associated with exposure to bacteria and the response to hypoxia
- effects on the feeding ecology of xanthid crabs by infection with the barnacle parasite, Loxothylacus
- examining the use of underwater video techniques to estimate grouper populations on hardbottom habitats
- development of real-time PCR assays of immunity for aquacultured cobia
- control of phase shifts between algal dominated and coral dominated assemblages on Jamaican coral reefs
