Research emphasis: Sulfur biogeochemistry, climate change impacts on marine phytoplankton, algal community structure and biogenic sulfur production; application of flow cytometry and “-omics” technologies to phytoplankton ecophysiology and sulfur biogeochemistry
Current and planned research projects:
- proteomic and metabolomic approaches to understanding biogenic sulfur production in phytoplankton
- impact of Vitamin B12 on the production and regulation of dimethylsulfoniopropionate and dimethylsulfide
- impact of climate change variables on natural Antarctic phytoplankton assemblages and cell-specific intracellular dimethylsulfoniopropionate quotas
- developing experimental methodologies and technologies for assessing the impact of climate change variables on lower trophic level organisms
