Research emphasis: To utilize genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic approaches to better understand the diversity, function and pathogenicity of microorganisms in the marine environment
Current research projects :
- microbial diversity associated with healthy and diseased Caribbean corals; linking coral microbial community diversity with function in order to better understand coral disease processes
- anti-microbial production and antibiotic resistance and susceptibility profiles of coral-associated microorganisms
- microbial community diversity associated with bottlenose dolphin upper respiratory tract fluids
- microbial degradation of crude oil; biofilms associated with oil-contaminated environments; characterizing the oil associated with the USS Arizona
