The Charleston Scientific and Cultural Educational Fund
Nature of the Award: to support scientific, cultural and artistic pursuits by individuals throughout the Lowcountry
Deadline: April 2009
Eligibility:
- Must be a native-born South Carolinian
- Must be between 21 and 60 years of age
- Must be pursuing a field or course of study in cultural arts or scientific matters

Earnest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship Program
Nature of the Award: to prepare students for public service careers with NOAA and increase awareness and training in the sciences
Deadline: February 2009
Eligibility:
- U.S. Citizen
- Full-time Junior status as of Fall 2009
- Have declared a minor in a discipline including, but not limited to: oceanic, environmental, biological, atmospheric sciences, mathematics, engineering, remote sensing technology, physical and social sciences including geography, physics, hydrology, geomatics or teacher education
- 3.0 GPA in all completed undergraduate courses each semester, as well as cumulative, and in your major field of study.

Length of the award: one year, two years with reappointment
Amount of the award: up to $8,000 per year for academic assistance; one 10 week, full-time summer intership position with $650 per week; housing and travel expenses
