Brittlebank Park Buffer Garden:

The Brittlebank Buffer Garden is an SC DHEC/OCRM grant funded project sponsored by the City of Charleston and the College of Charleston. The garden, located next to the fishing pier at downtown Brittlebank Park, is a model of the City's critical line wetland buffer ordinance, containing only native plant species and acting as a buffer to filter nonpoint source pollution before it enters our local waterways.

Our Master of Environmental Studies (MES) program prepares students to deal with the complex nature of environmental issues through an interdisciplinary approach that capitalizes on the unique faculty and research strengths of the College of Charleston, SC. The faculty at the College of Charleston contributes through the policy sciences and the natural science areas of biology, geology, mathematics, and physics.

Master of Environmental Studies Student Association - The Master of Environmental Studies Student Association (MESSA) is a graduate student organization of the College of Charleston. The goal of MESSA is to enhance the graduate experience of those in the MES program through community and campus outreach projects that integrate the special interests of students with community needs and through interaction among students, faculty, and friends of the program. All graduate students enrolled in the Master of Environmental Studies program are members of MESSA. MESSA holds informal meetings every month, which are open to all environmental studies students and faculty, as well as individuals interested in the activities of the program or the organization.
