Janine McCabe

 

Janine Marie McCabe (M.F.A. – University of Virginia, B.A. – College of Charleston) is an Assistant Professor and teaches Intro to Costume, Patternmaking and Draping, Costume Design and Costume Research. She has recently designed Arms and the Man, The Children’s Hour, Richard III and Lysistrata for the college and will be designing Arabian Nights in the spring 2008 semester.  She also mentors student designers on productions for the theatre department. 
Before coming to teach at the College of Charleston in Fall 2006, Janine spent 5 years working in NYC as an Assistant Costume Designer for Broadway, Off Broadway, Opera, Dance and Regional Theatre.
Recent professional design work includes Waiting for the Moon, a new Jack Murphy and Frank Wildhorn musical (Barrymore Award Nomination for Best Costume Design).  Other design work includes The Rink and Beard of Avon for The Cape Playhouse, Stage Door for Fairleigh Dickinson University, Caligula for the New York Musical Theatre Festival and Pierced! for Edinburgh Fringe Festival. While designing for NYC theatre companies such as The Julliard School, Circle in the Square School, Praxis Theatre Company and the NYC Fringe Festival, Janine worked as assistant costume designer on Broadway shows including The Wedding Singer, Wonderful Town, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Alcina for New York City Opera.
