PERFORMANCE
The Performance Track of the Theatre major is designed to give
the aspiring actor the best possible pre-professional training,
while retaining an awareness that successful theatre requires
the cooperative efforts of many artists. For that reason acting
students are required to participate in our productions as crew
members as well as actors at some point in their CofC journey.
Coursework leads sequentially from experiencing the joy of acting
to early scenework to the development of the actor's physical
and vocal instrument to grappling with the performance demands
of Shakespeare, Greek tragedy, stage fighting, and musical theatre.
Students may then opt to take our Career Development course, which
prepares them for the next step in their journey as professional
artists. The Performance track features the talents of 5 dynamic
full-time teachers of acting and/or directing, as well as a number
of our adjunct faculty.
