What does it take to be a CANDIDATE of Beta Alpha Psi??
Grades, dues and interest.

  • GRADES:You must intend on being an ACCT major (or MS ACCY student) who has completed at least 30 (accredited 4-year) college level credits. You must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 GPA in ACCT classes.
  • DUES:The National Beta Alpha Psi Office charges us a fee for each new candidate. You will be required to pay this fee plus a small amount of dues to the local chapter in order to earn candidate status. In 2009-10, the national fee is $55 and the local fee is $25 for total annual dues of $80 per candidate.
  • INTEREST:The idea behind Beta Alpha Psi is not for it to be fun, fun, fun. The idea is for it to be a way that YOU find out about life after college. Now, I think we can have a good time doing that, BUT the top priority of Beta Alpha Psi is to help students get closer to getting the job they want.

What does it take to be a MEMBER of Beta Alpha Psi??
Grades and commitment.

  • GRADES: You must maintain your 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 GPA in ACCT classes AND successfully complete ACCT 316 (along with a total of 60 accredited 4-year college credits). If your grades fall below these thresholds and/or you do not complete ACCT 316 during your 2-semester candidacy period, you will not be made a member of Beta Alpha Psi.
  • COMMITMENT: You are expected to attend at least 75% of meetings each semester. Meetings will take place on Thursday nights at 5:30. There will be 8 or so meetings each semester. Also, we WILL have community service projects that we will do as an organization. There will be enough options so that members can do things that suit them (i.e., collecting canned goods for shelters, reading with kids, Habitat for Humanity, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, etc.). Each candidate is expected to do at least 3 hours of service during the candidacy year (2 semesters) before he or she gets invited into the membership.
