ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES
Effective Jan. 4th, Mr. Steven S. Jones began his new job with the Hollings Marine Lab at Ft. Johnson. We will miss Steve's dedicated service to our department, and look forward to interactions with him at the NIST NMR Laboratories.
CONGRATULATIONS TO "DR. A" UPON HIS RETIREMENT!
Dr. Gary Asleson was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus upon his retirement. He joined the College of Charleston faculty in 1975. He is a former holder of the Mebane Teaching Chair in Chemistry & Biochemistry, received the 2004 Ronald T. Pflaum Award as the National Chapter Advisor of the Year for Alpha Chi Sigma, and was a recipient of the Distinguished Advising Award of the College of Charleston.
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the College of Charleston. The Department offers the following degrees: BA in chemistry, BS in chemistry, and BS in biochemistry. Both BS degrees are certified by the American Chemical Society. Students majoring in other disciplines may obtain a minor in chemistry. We feature a faculty that has as its primary focus the teaching of undergraduates and who value teacher-student interaction, particulalry in the undergraduate research lab. We are recognized throughout the Southeast for the quality of our program, the dedication of our faculty, and the success of our students.

We've moved!!! Our new location is at the corner of Calhoun and Coming Streets, 202 Calhoun Street. Chemistry occupies most of the first floor and all of the third floor.

Congratulations to the Gamma Delta chapter of the professional chemistry fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma for organizing the canned food drive in Chemistry and Biology classes. As a result of the drive, students donated over 8,00 food items this year.
