| College of Charleston Dedicates the Rita Liddy Hollings Science Center October 31, 2003 |
The College of Charleston formally renamed the College’s Science Center the Rita Liddy Hollings Science Center during a ceremony today.
“Peatsy” Hollings is a 1957 graduate of the College of Charleston and was the national campaign chairwoman for the Campaign for the College of Charleston from 1995-2001. As the chairwoman, she helped raise money over 45 million dollars for the College.
“Peatsy represents the highest ideals of the College”, says College of Charleston Board of Trustee Chairman Robert Smalls Jr. “She has exhibited a lifelong love of learning as well as an unflagging dedication to improving the work around her. Truly, she has made a difference.”
Hollings is married to South Carolina Senator Ernest Hollings and is a former high school teacher.
