Installation
-
Install Image-Pro v1.3 - it
important that Image-Pro be installed on the system before PointCount.
The files WINIP.EXE and IPC.DLL included with version 1.3 of Image-Pro
must be replaced by newer files contained in the PointCount installation.

Install PointCount - the directory
C:\POINTCNT\ will be created and all program files will be written therein.

Run the program. The first
time the program is run the user is prompted for a serial number, registered
user name and registered institution.

File Menu
Open Site Image
- Opens a file dialogue box that prompts the user for a .TIF or .JPG image.
After selection PointCount loads Image Pro if necessary and displays the
selected file. If the "automatically tag images" option is selected a series
of points is read from CD.DAT (file should be located in the same directory
as the loaded image) and overlaid.
Next/Previous Site
Image - Moves forward/backward through a series of images contained
in gallery the gallery file (*.SEL). Gallery files can be created with XGallery.exe.

Utilities Menu
Create CSV - Exports
data from the .MGR and .PTS files to a comma separated value file. This
file format is compatible with all major spreadsheets.

Automatically Tag Images
- when selected points contained in CD.DAT are overlaid automatically when
an image file is opened.
Automatically Save
Data - when selected .MGR and .PTS are updated without prompt when
a new image is loaded or the user exits the program.
Number of Points
- enables the user to change the number of points used by the program.
Valid range is 1-50.

control) Zoom with focus on the currently selected point.

Misc. Identifications
- Various identifications added here for reference.
Select All
- Activates all cells on the Point Tag dialogue.
Add/View Comments
- Displays the comments dialogue. Comments can be added for an entire image
or any point within the image. Output is saved to a .CMT file in the C:\POINTCNT\
directory. Currently the content of the .CMT file ignored during .CSV creation.

Point
Tag Dialogue
| Site - Site name
of currently loaded image.
Station - Station
name of currently loaded image.
Frame - Frame number
of currently loaded image.
File - Complete filename
of currently loaded image.
Data Files and Path
- Directory to which the .MGR and .PTS files reside.
Identification Area
- Active cells are highlighted. To activate a cell select either the cell
itself or the button beside the cell. To activate multiple, sequential
cells hold down the shift key when clicking. To activate multiple, non-sequential
cells hold down the control key while clicking. |
