Professional Societies related to Discovery Informatics

American Mathematical Society
The American Mathematical Society fulfills its mission through programs and services that promote mathematical research and its uses, strengthen mathematical education, and foster awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and to everyday life.

American Statistical Association

The American Statistical Association (ASA) is a scientific and educational society founded in 1839 with the following mission: To promote excellence in the application of statistical science across the wealth of human endeavor.

Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on
Algorithms and Computation Theory

The primary mission of ACM SIGACT is to foster and promote the discovery and dissemination of high quality research in the domain of theoretical computer science.

Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence
SIGART is one of the oldest special interest groups in the ACM. It is an active group, most prominently in its role of supporting conferences and organizing consortia for doctoral students in AI.

Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group for Genetic and Evolutionary Computation
On January 1, 2005, the former International Society for Genetic and Evolutionary Computation became ACM SIGEVO. The group promotes public information about the field, operates an annual conference (GECCO), and supports the Evolutionary Computation journal and the Genetic Programming and Evolvable Machines journal.

Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining
The mission of SIGKDD is to promote the rapid maturation of the field of knowledge discovery in data and datamining as a key element of the corporate information technology structure.

Center for the Study of Complex Systems at the University of Michigan
The CSCS is a broadly interdisciplinary program at the University of Michigan designed to encourage and facilitate research and education in the general area of nonlinear, dynamical and adaptive systems.

Computational Learning Theory (COLT)
COLT is devoted to studying the design and analysis of algorithms for making predictions about the future based on past experiences. COLT has strongly encouraged interaction with other fields that work on problems of prediction such as applied machine learning, statistics, information theory, pattern recognition and statistical physics.

European Association for Theoretical
Computer Science (EATCS)

EATCS is an international organization founded in 1972. Its aim is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and results among theoretical computer scientists as well as to stimulate cooperation between the theoretical and the practical community in computer science.

Institute of Mathematical Statistics
The IMS is an international professional and scholarly society devoted to the development, dissemination, and application of statistics and probability.

International Statistical Institute
The ISI is one of the oldest international scientific associations functioning in the modern world, first convened in 1853. The Institute seeks to develop and improve statistical methods and their application through the promotion of international activity and co-operation.

KDnuggets
KD stands for Knowledge Discovery. KDnuggets.com is a leading source of information on Data Mining, Web Mining, Knowledge Discovery, and Decision Support Topics, including News, Software, Solutions, Companies, Jobs, Courses, Meetings, Publications, and more.

Kernal Machines
A central source of information on kernel based methods, including support vector machines and Gaussian processes.

The Santa Fe Institute
The Santa Fe Institute is a private, not-for-profit, independent research and education center founded in 1984, emphasizing multidisciplinary collaboration in pursuit of understanding the common themes that arise in natural, artificial, and social systems.
