Dear Geneders, Inquiry group #5 met today (Oct. 14, 1996) to continue our discussion on the Goals and Objectives of General Education. Let me begin by mentioning that our group agreed very closely with the objectives set forth by Inquiry group #8. In our discussion today we covered a great many topics ranging from implementation ideas, problems with the status quo, political ramifications of changes in the status quo, problems we have in our own courses in meeting the goals and objectives of general education, changes in the College recently which have effected general education, and hopes for the future. While we are not quite ready to put forth our final list, the meeting was fruitful in terms of allowing us to refine and sharpen our thinking towards this end. Next week we hope to reach some tangible conclusions. Martin Jones
