According to Group 12, the following prioritized areas in the current General Education experience do not sufficiently support the new Consensus Goals:

1. Global awareness: A World History survey is needed to foster a better understanding of global interrelationships, past and present. This World History survey is also quite relevant to and supportive of the foreign language requirement. The World History survey would provide significant support for Goals 2, 3, 4, and 5.

2. Interdisciplinary courses and programs need better coordination and support.

3. More clarification on what the faculty role should be in helping students with Goals 7 and 8 ["develop the ability to set and achieve personal goals" and "work and interact effectively with others"].
