Dear GenEders, Inquiry group # 8 met this afternoon to continue our
discussion. We had a guest alumnus from the College, Ben Maddox
(sp?), who joined in the discussion. I, personally, was delighted to
hear his views on the environment, consumptive behavior of the
industrialized world, and the need for across the curriculum
environmental education. Needless to say the discussion roamed
freely and we never really did fence it in. Suffice to say that at
the end of the hour we were dabbling with the thought that some
experimental courses should be implemented as GenEd courses which
would be interdisciplinary in nature and would address ecology and
contemporary science issues (cloning, for example) and their
political and social implications. Martin Jones (Math)
