Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
     

The College of Charleston EMS will again be hosting an EMT-Basic class on the College of Charleston Campus this coming semester (Spring 2010). The course will begin January12, 2010 and complete on April 8, 2010. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00pm to 10:00pm as well as six Saturdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm. The College of Charleston EMS has worked with Lowcountry Regional EMS to ensure that the course schedule does not conflict with scheduled College of Charleston holidays.

The cost of the course will be $595. This includes textbook, workbook, and National Registry testing fee. A tuition payment plan is available to assist those who cannot afford to pay the full amount up front.

Registration for the course has begun. In order to register for the course please fill out this registration form or contact Lowcountry Regional EMS directly. Please let them know that you are a College of Charleston students when registering for this coure. This course is not run through the College of Charleston registrars office and no College of Charleston credit hours will be received for completing this course.

If you cannot attend this course, but still wish to become a certified EMT-Basic please contact one of the organizations listed below.

If you are currently certified at an Emergency Medical Technician in another state and wish to obtain reciprocity in South Carolina you will need to submit a reciprocity application as per SC DHEC regulations. In many cases this will also require completing a course on IV Maintenance and Intubation if this training was not completed in your state. The training centers listed above may be contacted to obtain this training.
