This program will begin with two and half weeks of study in Charleston, before departing for Ireland. The program will fly into Shannon and travel up the west coast, first to Doolan, and from there to the W.B. Yeats and Lady Gregory sites in Mayo; on to Sligo. In Sligo the program will stay in the Yeats Village, visiting the numerous stone-age sites in the area. From Sligo the students will travel to the east coast to Dublin, from which the program will conduct day trips. The group will depart from Dublin after fourteen days in Ireland.

Dr. Joseph Kelly is a Professor of English at the College of Charleston. He specializes in Irish literature and has taught both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Trish Ward, Chair of the English Department, specializes in Medieval literature. Both Dr. Kelly and Dr. Ward conducted the Ireland summer program in 2004. The Program Fee of $3,985 includes a non-refundable application fee of $50 (CofC students), round-trip airfare, lodging, transfers, some breakfasts, medical insurance, and entrance fees.
TUITION IS NOT INCLUDED.
Application and a deposit of $550 are due by February 13, 2009. Scholarships of $1000 each are available to CofC students for study abroad. Eligibility is based on demonstrated financial need and academic merit.
