with appropriate background in ocean science, marine or maritime
issues, or other relevant background to fill a full-time position,
available immediately, at the federal interagency office Ocean.US.

Ocean.US is a federal interagency office that is moving to
a new location in Silver Spring, Maryland. It functions as
the National Office for Integrated and Sustained Ocean Observations
and was established by the Congressionally-created National
Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP). Since its establishment
in 2000, Ocean.US has assisted with the development of an
Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), the U.S. contribution
to a Global Ocean Observing System, and to the Global Earth
Observation System of Systems.

Requirements for the Position
The Research Associate should have a Bachelor’s degree
with five years’ experience in relevant concepts and
operations. An equivalent combination of education and experience
is acceptable. Further, the candidate will have experience
in telecommunications and office systems, computers, word
processing, facsimile, and xerographic equipment. Personal
computer literacy is required: internet, e-mail, and Microsoft
Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). The candidate must also
be proficient with Excel, Access or equivalent database and
spreadsheet programs. Six times per year the Research Associate
may be required to travel to a meeting outside of the metropolitan
Washington, DC area.
Job Responsibilities
The functions of the Research Associate include aiding in
the coordination of development plans for an Integrated Ocean
Observing System (IOOS) for the U.S. The Research Associate
will report directly to the Senior Research Associate, who
will assign tasks according to periodically updated work plans
and as needed. Tasks assigned by the Senior Research Associate,
or other senior Ocean.US staff, may include:
* Conduct literature research for materials
relevant to the needs of the Ocean.US office in developing
IOOS
* Draft background papers, presentations,
and status reports describing the progress in ocean observing
system activities
* Organize, or assist in organizing, meetings
and workshops
* Draft, or assist in drafting, and publish
workshop reports from meetings and workshops hosted by Ocean.US
for the development of IOOS
* Assist the Public Relations/Marketing
Specialist in preparing outreach materials to describe to
the public, federal government, state governments and regional
bodies the national and regional importance of IOOS
* Assist the Public Relations/Marketing
Specialist in the maintenance of the Ocean.US web site with
weekly and/or daily updates of current and useful information,
links and documentation on the planning and implementation
of the IOOS, and
* Represent Ocean.US at various meetings
and workshops both in Washington, DC and outside of the metropolitan

All of Conservation International’s work depends on
achieving conservation outcomes. This position carries the
important responsibility of supporting the definition of quantifiable,
globally consistent targets and priorities for achieving conservation
outcomes across Latin America. It requires knowledge of the
three scales at which outcomes are targeted: “Extinctions
Avoided” (species), “Areas Protected” (sites),
and “Corridors Consolidated” (landscapes/ seascapes),
as well as expertise in biodiversity data synthesis and analysis,
data management and GIS, scientific writing and editing, and
strong language and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
* Support CI’s regional programs
and partners in defining targets and priorities for achieving
conservation outcomes at the species, site and landscape/seascape
scales in Latin America.
* Support application of quantifiable criteria
for defining targets in the terrestrial, freshwater and marine
biomes within Latin America, prioritizing work in areas with
CI programs.
* Ensure continuous interaction between
regional program staff, CABS and other technical support programs
in HQ.
* Facilitate research in the regional programs
and work with them to publish results of conservation outcome
definition work.
* Facilitate communication with partner
organizations, including helping to organize workshops and
technical meetings.
* Fundraising.
* This position requires flexibility to
travel, sometimes for extended periods
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Masters degree in Conservation Biology, Ecology or similar.

The Coastal Resources Division, Ecological Services Section
is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a vacancy in the
position of Coastal Technical Assistant within the Operations
Program of the Ecological Services Section. This is a full-time,
non-merit, salaried position in the unclassified service of
the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and is not entitled
to any rights and privileges under the State Merit System.
This position is entitled to all fringe benefits for which

The associate in this position has access to the Flexible

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

natural sciences AND two years of experience in natural resource
management or training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

(1) an advanced graduate degree in Marine Affairs and Policy;

American Samoa Coastal Program Seeks Environmental Planner
The American Samoa Coastal Management Program (ASCMP) is
seeking an Environmental Planner (EP). The EP is responsible
for long range environmental policy analysis and planning,
staff development and coordination. The EP oversees and coordinates
(1) 309 Enhancement Section;
(2) Permit Section;
(3) Information Section;
(4) Non-point source pollution Section 6217 program (works
with the American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA))
and reports directly to the ASCMP Manager.
As second in charge to the ASCMP Manager, the EP also directs
long range planning activities and ensures that the appropriate
linkages are made between resource planning and the regulatory
functions of the Permit Section. The EP also advises the ASCMP
Manager and the Director of DOC on critical resource management
planning issues for the Territory. Furthermore, the EP shall
be knowledgeable of Federal laws and regulations as they may
apply and/or affect policy formulation in the Territory.
The EP must have a master's degree in a field related to
coastal science, plus four years related experience in coastal
zone planning. Additional years of work-related experience
may be substituted for academic requirements.
This is a two-year contract position with a salary range
of $33,000-$35,000. Transportation, relocation expense, housing,
and medical expenses included. ASCMP oversees an interagency
resource management system for the planning and protection
of American Samoa's natural and cultural resources.

*Participate collaboratively with the CEO in the implementation
of CLFV's marketing plans to increase visibility and generate
new business.
*Oversee the management of the consulting practice including
the assurance of high grade proposals, precise resource allocation,
sophisticated project management, effective mentoring, and
excellent client service.
*Participate as the principal consultant in a variety of high
profile assignments.
*Help foster an ethos of accountability, rigorous planning,
and outcome evaluation while preserving the innovative spirit
that underlies all of CLFV's work.
*Consistently inform, cultivate, invigorate, and make the
best use of CLF advocates and programs in furthering CLFV's

*Strengthen and expand CLFV's collaborations with other environmental,

Qualifications: The Climate and Clean Energy Director position
requires at least 1 year of work experience in the energy/global
warming arena, preferably in a non-profit environment. A Masters
degree or Bachelors with equivalent work experience in the
energy/advocacy field are desired. Knowledge of energy policy
matters and environmental issues, local, state and national
legislative process, and principles/practices of effective
public relations are required. Skill in developing short-
and long-range plans, establishing priorities and organizing
work, management, grassroots organizing, group leadership,
volunteer cultivation/coordination and working as a team.
Oral and written communication and use of computers and commonly
used office software is also required. Personal transportation
and mobile phone (for press calls) required.

Description of Work
This position is exempt from the state personnel act, has

Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund (CWMTF) board of
trustees seeks a dynamic, motivated professional to serve
as executive director responsible for the following activities:
work with board & staff to manage CWMTF programs, implement
board policies & procedures, serve as staff liaison to
board committees, support board in meeting strategic goals,
delegate and direct board to action, oversee board & staff

management of surface water resources. Must possess knowledge
of state legislative process and government operations, and
have established & demonstrated statewide relationships.
Must demonstrate a record of successful accomplishments, be
an energetic, detailed-oriented, self-starter, & available
for extensive travel throughout NC.
Preferred training & experience: advanced degree, technical
water quality background, and prior experience with &
general knowledge of regulatory issues involving water quality
and/or property acquisition for conservation purposes.

Responsibilities: The Executive Director's shall report to

developing strategy, organizing, and media relations. Candidates
must have direct experience in non-profit or academic fundraising
and strong writing and communications skills. An advanced
degree in environmental science, political science, environmental
law, or a related field is desirable. Knowledge of federal
fisheries management polices is desirable, but not required.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Marine Resources Policy Coordinator provides policy support
for Intergovernmental Resource Management within the Director’s
Office. The Coordinator represents the agency in intergovernmental
management forums affecting marine resource conservation and/or
harvest use benefits. This position provides management and
policy support regarding halibut, albacore tuna, groundfish,
and sardines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Represent the Department in intergovernmental management
forums for Pacific halibut, albacore tuna, groundfish, and
sardines
2. Coordinate with the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS),
the states of Oregon and California, and the coastal treaty
tribes to develop policy and regulatory recommendations for
marine resources
3. Communicate with commercial and recreational fishery participants
regarding policy and management issues, and current federal
and/or state fishing regulations and regulatory actions
4. Work with agency policy leads to develop recommendations
for federal management of halibut, albacore tuna, groundfish,
and sardines
5. Work with agency and federal enforcement staff and the
Attorney General’s Office, as appropriate, in the development,
adoption, and implementation of regulations for coastal marine
resources
6. Prepare management summaries and written reports on coastal
marine fish fisheries, data collection, and management activities
7. Prepare briefing materials on coastal marine fish fisheries,
data collection, and management activities for presentation
to Fish and Wildlife Commission and other state and federal
forums, as needed
8. Develop and disseminate information through various types
of correspondence regarding scheduling of ad-hoc advisory
meetings, regulatory changes, and policy considerations
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
A BA or BS degree in natural resources management, biology,
environmental science, or related field. AND Four years experience
in habitat, fisheries management, or coordinating natural
resource management policy issues.
M.S. degree in natural resources management, biology, environmental
science, or other related field will substitute for one year
of the experience.
Knowledge of Washington State relations with treaty tribes
in fisheries management forums. Understanding principles of
managing fisheries for long-term sustainability. Experience
working collaboratively with diverse groups and building trust
in these settings. Experience as lead person in controversial
forums with ability to make decisions to successfully achieve
intended results. Excellent written and oral communication
skills. Experience writing policy documents for broad audiences,
translating complex information to clear messages for various
audiences.
COMPETENCIES:
• Ability to evaluate issues and make sound recommendations
for conservation, use of fish and wildlife populations and
associated habitats;
• Knowledge of managing natural systems for long term
sustainability
• Knowledge of Washington state/tribal relations and

The mission of the Alabama Rivers Alliance is to protect

Job Responsibilities
The Watershed Leadership Coordinator is responsible for providing
leadership and support services to Alabama ’s network
of local watershed organizations and working on other Alliance
programs as needed. Major focus areas include:
• Implementing the Alliance’s strategic focus
on improving local protections for rivers, streams and watersheds
through empowering citizens and supporting the growth development
and/or enhancement of local watershed organizations.
• Establishing and maintaining relations with Alabama’s
existing watershed organizations.
• Developing programs to assist citizens with the formation
of new watershed organizations.
• Identifying and fulfilling training needs of Alabama’s
watershed organizations in several ways:
• Providing direct one-on-one assistance to citizens
and river groups
• Organizing regional or statewide workshops on topics
important to Alabama’s river advocates
• Producing and/or identifying relevant resources, information
and tools for the watershed community, and disseminating through
the Alliance website, newsletters, email lists and other media
