The
majority of the E/O Coordinator's time will be spent providing
educational and promotional information about the OWR&R,

Conservation Awareness Team (CAT) and Environmental Sustainability
initiatives to the various facets of the campus community.
This
includes, but is not limited to: creating brochures and fact
sheets;
creating and editing the OWR&R's newsletter; overseeing
the continued
development of the web page; organizing education sessions
and
presenting to classes and offices on various aspects of environmental
sustainability, energy and water conservation, and waste reduction
and
recycling topics; organizing special events such as Earth
Day; staffing
tables at various campus and community events; writing press
releases
and articles for local news outlets or other departments'
publications;
overseeing the development of a yearly Recycling Monitor workshop;
and
assisting with the set up and coordination of indoor recycling
sites.
The
E/O Coordinator will also oversee student volunteers and interns.
Create educational materials directed specifically towards
UNC Charlotte
students. Work with the staff of Housing and Residence Life
(H&RL) to
develop methods of distribution. Work with H&RL staff
to educate
students about recycling opportunities during move-in and
move-out.
Prepare and present to each Residence Hall programs on recycling
and
conservation procedures during the beginning of the year.
Work with RC's
and RA's to improve environmental education throughout Residence
Life.
Requirements:

Campaigner - CA TURTLE
ISLAND RESTORATION NETWORK is seeking an experienced Campaigner
to implement grassroots and media campaigns to help prevent
the
extinction of the Pacific leatherback sea turtle. The campaign
focuses
on reforming industrial fishing practices that are threatening
sea
turtles, other marine species and long-term food supply. This
is a
one-year position, with the possibility of renewal.
The
qualified candidate must have the skills and proven initiative
to
forward the campaign through grassroots mobilization, coalition
building, media outreach, education of decision makers, conveying
scientific information to other audiences, and involving the
public in
influencing domestic and international policy. The position
involves
some travel, organizing and making presentations to various
audiences.
Prior
campaign experience is a must. Ability to work independently
required. Campaigner must be goal oriented and success will
be measured
in terms of concrete, quantifiable work product.
SPECIFIC
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess at least a Masters in biology

Scope
of work: The Scientific Director will:

that may be
necessary to effectively implement the research programs.

Dry
Creek Long-Term Watershed Study (Dry Creek Study) is seeking
two
research technicians for a 12 month period beginning in May
2006. The
technician will assist research staff and graduate students
working on
the Dry Creek Study. The Dry Creek Study is located in southwest
Georgia on International Paper Company land. The study has
multidimensional research projects, which include forest hydrology,
water quality, and wildlife/biodiversity projects. The position
will
involve intensive field work, lab chemical analysis, and data
analysis
and management. This is a great opportunity for individual
who is
interested in forest science research. On-site housing (including
utility) may be available at no cost. Conditional use of on-site
company vehicles is included. Starting salary is $10 per hour.
Basic
Qualifications

position will require a background in forestry, wildlife,

Conservation Association's Mission Statement:

build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire
lifelong stewardship of our environment and communities by
engaging
young people in hands-on service to the land.
Background:
Working in partnership with the Bureau of Indian Affairs
and local Tribes, SCA FIREMON teams will use FIREMON protocols,
basic
forestry techniques, GPS, and GIS to complete an array of
projects aimed
at protecting natural areas. A team of 1 project leader and
4 team
members will work in Cherokee, North Carolina.
Primary
Responsibilities: Project Leaders will work in conjunction
with
partner agencies and SCA staff to meet the goals of the project;
manage
site logistics and administrative tasks; interview, select,
supervise
and lead interns; and provide for their safety in the field.
In
addition to their role as project leaders, they will carry
out field
work; identify and collect plot data; compile and analyze
FIREMON data;
present work to agency partners. Other potential responsibilities
include prescribed burning, public outreach and education,
and SCA
recruiting.

Provided: Project Leaders will come together with SCA staff
in
Boise, ID for a week-long training on technical FIREMON field
skills and

SUMMARY
OF POSITION:
The Interpretive Assistant will work with South Slough education
program
staff to develop and expand summer interpretive opportunities

the Reserve with an emphasis on weekend visitor services.

Interpretive Assistant will assist in the delivery of estuary,
watershed, and marine education activities, as well as, providing
visitor services and delivery of programs at the Interpretive
Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. An independent, self-motivated, creative and resourceful
individual who enjoys working with children and adults.
2. Interest or experience in natural resources and/or biology.
3. Familiarity with coastal environments is helpful but not
required.
4. Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
5. Willingness to work a Wednesday - Sunday schedule with
occasional flexible hours.
6. A cooperative manner and the ability to work as part of
a team.
7. A willingness to ask questions for clarification and job
completion.
8. Valid driver's license and good driving record.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
One year of experience (paid or unpaid) performing public
contact or
customer service duties related to a natural area such as
a park,
preserve, or research reserve (e.g. Teacher, Customer Service
Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.) or
One year (3 quarters / 2 semesters) of college in any discipline.
Coursework in natural science or environmental studies is
preferred.
NOTE: A combination of education and experience may substitute.
COMPENSATION:
This position is a temporary position with the State of
Oregon, Department of State Lands - South Slough National
Estuarine
Research Reserve and is classified as a teaching assistant.
The current
rate of monthly pay for a full-time position (40 hours per
week) is
$1691. This is a temporary position with the State of Oregon
and has a
1,040 hour limitation.

Lowcountry Earth Force, one of nine field offices across the

Overview
The
Executive Director provides visionary leadership and coordinates
the
delivery of Earth Force programs in Charleston, Berkeley,
Colleton and
Dorchester counties. The Executive Director will also work
to better
incorporate Earth Force programs in all of four of the schools
districts
we work in as well as support advancement of service learning
in the
Lowcountry of South Carolina. We are looking for an Executive

Leadership

Ideal Qualifications and experience:
At
least 5 years of experience in program management and/or working

community based or nonprofit organizations. Demonstrated successful
experience in two or more of the following areas is highly
desirable:
financial management, fundraising/donor management, grant
writing
marketing, community organizing, civic affairs, environmental
issues,
leadership development, education reform, service learning,
youth
development, and board relations.
An
advanced degree in Non Profit Management, Public Administration
or
Public Policy is highly desirable. Excellent communication
and team
building skills is a must. Must be an entrepreneurial self-starter
