

Dr. Douglas Friedman is Director of Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
He received his B.A. from Richmond College, City University of New York
and his M.Phil. and Ph.D. from the City University of New York Graduate
School and has been a member of the Department of Political Science since
1983. Dr. Friedman's main teaching and research interests include Comparative
Politics - Latin American, Economic and Political Development, Revolution;
and Political Theory - Ancient, Medieval and Modern. He supervises students
participating in Model OAS delegations and is chair of the Faculty Council
that organizes the Edgar Maya Model OAS in Washington D.C. each year.
Dr. Friedman has traveled extensively in Latin America and is the
author of The State and Underdevelopment in Spanish America: The
Political Roots of Dependency in Peru and Argentina , published by
Westview Press.
