I thought I'd pass along President Paul Johnson's final call for next
month's meeting of the Freshwater Mollusk Conservation Society. Don't
forget the Gastropod Committee meeting Tuesday, March 13, at 5:10 pm.
See you there!
Rob
-----------
Due to numerous requests we have extended the FMCS hotel conference
rate to March 1, 2001. March 1, 2001 is also the LAST DAY FOR LATE
SYMPOSIUM REGISTRATION. After March 1, 2001 symposium registration
will be at the walk-up rates (Student Member - $175.00 / Student Non-member
205.00/ Member $215.00/ Non-member $250.00). Walk-up registration
fees are higher to cover the increased costs of meals and break expenses
charged to the society by the hotel for walk-up registrants. A symposium
registration sheet can be downloaded from the website below.
You must make your room reservations with the DoubleTree/Westin by March 1, 2001 to qualify for the reduced conference rate of $89.00 per night. After March 1, 2001, the cost of a room will climb to the standard rate of $150.00 per night. The Westin/DoubleTree Hotel can be reached by calling (412)281-3700. The FMCS does not assume responsibility for symposium participants room reservations(i.e., you must register for the symposium and with the hotel).
There was an error in the last communication I sent you regarding the federal/government room rates at the hotel. The DoubleTree/Westin WILL NOT HONOR GOVERNMENT RATES DURING THE SYMPOSIUM PERIOD. IF YOU ARE A FEDERAL/STATE EMPLOYEE AND DO NOT REGISTER WITH THE HOTEL BY MARCH 1, 2001, YOU CAN NOT REGISTER AT THE GOVERNMENT RATE AFTER MARCH 1st, 2001, AND WILL HAVE TO PAY THE FULL RATE OF $150.00 PER NIGHT. So if you are planning to walk-up register (which you can do), please make your room reservations now to save money.`
You can also inquire as to symposium program specifics and download a symposium registration form on the web at:
http://www.dep.state.pa.us/dep/deputate/fieldops/sw/tom/fmcs.html
As of today we have nearly 200 registrants, 77 platform presentations, and over 40 poster presentations - so be sure not to miss the largest malacology meeting in North America this year.
Thanks,
Paul Johnson
