Program Highlights:
The variety of research interests represented by a combined faculty allows students to choose their concentration from a number of subject areas.

  • The program requires either a thesis or two research seminars.
    Unique resources for students include the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture and the largest Jewish archives in the Southeast.
    Degree candidates specialize in United States history, European history, or Asian - African - Latin American history. Late afternoon and evening class schedules accommodate working professionals
  • The Program in the Carolina Lowcountry and the Atlantic World enjoys an international reputation among history scholars
