GIGOVA, Irina
(Modern Eastern European History and Jewish History)
is an Assistant Professor of History who received her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 2005. She has taught upper-level courses on nineteenth and twentieth century Eastern Europe and everyday communism. Her research examines aspects of European intellectual and cultural history, through a case study of Bulgarian writers. She is currently working on a book manuscript based on the dissertation entitled Writers of the Nation: Intellectual Identity in Bulgaria , 1939-1953.
