DEGREE SEEKING STUDENTS
The list below describes the admission requirements
for all M.Ed. degree-seeking applicants.
- Submit a completed application form with
a non refundable application fee of $45.00.
- Submit official transcripts of all undergraduate
and graduate coursework. An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited
college or university is required. Applicants are expected to have a
cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, both overall
and in the major.
- Submit two letters of recommendation.
Letters should be from persons most familiar with previous academic
and/or work experiences and should indicate evidence of potential for
success in graduate studies.

The M.Ed. in Science and Math for Teachers
program requires ONE of the following:
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) -
Composite GRE math and verbal score of 1000 or higher.
- PRAXIS Series
Exams - Score at the level necessary for certification
in South Carolina.
- Submit a copy of teaching certificate. If you do not have a teaching certificate, your statement of goals should discuss this fact and how the program still furthers your career objectives.
- Submit a one or two page statement of professional goals explaining how you feel the M.Ed. in Science and Math for Teachers will help you meet those goals.
- Submit scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if English is not the primary language of the candidate.
- Application Deadlines:
- July 1 for Fall Semester Admission
- November 1 for Spring Semester Admission
- April 1 for Summer Semester Admission
NON-DEGREE STUDENTS
Certified teachers and school administrators
who are not seeking a degree but who wish to take courses in education
for the purposes of professional recertification or enrichment may be
admitted as non-degree students. The following list describes the admission
requirements for non-degree applicants.
- Submit a completed application form with
a non refundable application fee of $45.00.
- Submit a copy of a professional teaching
credential.
The non-degree graduate student subsequently
may be reclassified as a regular-degree student in an M. Ed. program.
In order to accomplish reclassification as a regular-degree student, the
candidate must submit two letters of recommendation, a graduate course
transcript with at least a 3.0 grade point ratio (if courses have been
completed), and other requirements listed above. No more than 9 credit
hours of work taken in non-degree status may be applied toward degree
requirements if the student is later admitted to a degree program. Non-degree
status is not intended to be a temporary classification for those found
ineligible for admission to the degree program.
