| The two-day in-service workshops are of two kinds: those contracted between a school district and an in-service consultant and those offered in a central location and open to individuals from any school. The course, EDPD 810-160 Language Arts through Latin, is offered during the workshop at the College of Charleston. By successfully completing this OPDE course a certified teacher may earn one graduate credit hour through the College of Charleston’s Professional Development in Education Program. Registration for the course must be completed online within 48 hours of the beginning of the course. A tuition fee for the OPDE course is paid on the first day of instruction. Participants must bring a copy of a valid teacher’s certificate to the first class. See below. A person who registers online for the OPDE course must also complete the registration form for the workshop. See below. A workshop open to individuals is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, July 13 and 14, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the College of Charleston, 66 George Street, Charleston, SC 29424. Exclusive of the fees for the OPDE course, there is also a workshop fee for instructional materials, continental breakfast and lunch. The latter is a non-profit organization, which sponsors teacher training workshops in different parts of the U.S. for the purpose of improving literacy among young students in urban and rural school districts.
