A NEW TRIO PROGRAM AT THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
The College of Charleston is excited to announce that it was recently awarded funding to implement TRiO’s Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program on our campus. Housed on the 4th floor of the Multicultural Center, this is a four-year renewable TRiO grant from the U.S. Department of Education. $220,000 in federal funding is provided each year to help 25 first-generation college students, low-income and/or under-represented undergraduates prepare for and succeed in doctoral programs. Since we have had TRiO’s Upward Bound Program (housed in the Education Center) for over 30 years, we are excited about adding another TRiO program on campus.

The College of Charleston McNair Scholars Program includes a summer research experience, service learning, coursework, workshop series and advising to prepare our participants for successful completion of graduate degrees.
