What is SCAMP? “South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation“

The National Science Foundation funds SCAMP for

- minority students (African American, Hispanic, and Native American) - interested in pursuing a degree in science or math.

Congratulations to our SCAMP First Place Winners

SCAMP is

- an accelerated  summer bridge program
- that provides students interested in science, technology, engineering,   and mathematics (STEM)
- an opportunity to challenge themselves academically
- and increase their chances for success
- by preparing them for what to expect in these career fields
- and by sharpening their academic skills.

Living and learning arrangements in residence halls are available to all SCAMP program participants.

SCAMP is held in conjunction with the SPECTRA program during
   Summer II Session.

Eligible students selected to enroll in the SCAMP program will register for

- two courses- Freshman Seminar and
- a special section of a college level pre-calculus course.
This course emphasizes the concepts and skills that are required for all   science and mathematics majors.

- There is a complementary Mathematics Lab, which will meet, under the   supervision of an outstanding mathematics professor for approximately   two hours every day, Monday through Friday.

Students will receive four (4) hours of college credit once they have passed the course.  In addition, the student may receive a scholarship ($500 - $1000) if they enroll in Calculus (MATH 120) at the College of Charleston. SCAMPers are required to attend a mathematics workshop for Calculus (MATH 120) as well.

Students participating in the Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics track will be eligible to participate in other South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation (SCAMP) programs.  These programs are designed to maximize the students’ best chances for success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics throughout their academic career at the College of Charleston.
