Tenure-track Assistant Professor - Atmospheric Physics

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the College of Charleston (a nationally recognized, public liberal arts and sciences university) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in atmospheric physics beginning fall 2011. The successful candidate must have a commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate physics or astronomy students. In addition to teaching duties, the successful candidate is expected to develop a strong well funded research program that includes undergraduate students. A PhD in atmospheric physics, meteorology, or a closely related field is required. Teaching and post-doctoral experience are preferred. The department currently offers a physics major with a meteorology concentration and hopes to expand this into an atmospheric physics major as part of an initiative to develop a Lowcountry Hazards Center.
